Brian Waters joins Patriots

September 4, 2011

Five time Pro Bowl selection Brian Waters signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots that could be worth around $5.5 million. The move is big for the Patriots, as they already have a strong offensive line and Waters can only boost it. An undrafted free agent, Waters joined the Kansas City Cheifs in 2000 and was one of the top offensive lineman over the last decade. After Kansas City released him back in late July, Waters was looking for a team with a shot at the Super Bowl and he definately found one with New England. We’ll see how he gets worked in early in the season and how things work out.

New England hits the jackpot

July 28, 2011

Today the New England Patriots hit the NFL offseason jackpot today, acquiring Wide Receiver Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals for two draft picks (A 2012 5th rd and a 2013 6th rd), and acquired defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins for a 2016 5th rd pick. Acquiring these two Pro Bowl players not only boosts New England’s chances of returning to the Super Bowl, but also winning the Lombardi trophy. Ochocinco is coming off a season in which he took a backseat to Terrell Owens and had a down year for his standards with 67 catches for 831 yards and 4 TD. Haynesworth was in a bad situation in Washington last season and posted a lackluster line of 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks in only half a season. Head coach Bill Belichick is a master of getting disgruntled players and rerouting them back to there old form, Corey Dillon and Randy Moss for example, and will assure that Haynesworth plays to the level he did as a member of the Titans and get Ochocinco involved early and often throughout the season. Tom Brady and co. will definately be a force to be reckoned with all year long.

Tom Brady sets NFL record

December 27, 2010

Once again the Patriots Tom Brady did something to amaze everyone. Tom Brady had been nearly perfect this season and hasn’t thrown and intereception since facing the Baltimore Ravens… In week 6 of the season! Brady set the record for most consecutive passes without throwing an interception with a whopping 319 attempts, breaking Bernie Kosar’s record of 308 attempts set in the 1990-91 season. Brady has only thrown four interceptions all season long, two against the Jets and two against Baltimore. Tom Brady’s play has shown why the New England Patriots are the #1 seed in the AFC and have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This record for Brady is amazing but it’s completely suprising, even though he’s the best quarterback in the league.

The three main factors to why this is suprising are as follows; Brady always plays a tough schedule due to his team always finishing at or near the top of the division so he’s constantly facing top ranked defenses, he plays in the AFC East which brings cold, rainy and snowy weather, prime candidates for turnover weather, and simply it’s the National Football League. A constant chess game where most games see the quarterback throw a pick, regardless of it being his fault or not due to the countless hours the defenses study of the Quarterbacks. Brady has not only been skillful, but also lucky to have seen this many attempts without coughing up the ball. Brady is sure to be headed to Canton when his playing days are over, and with three Super Bowl titles in four appearance with another one possibly looming, (Never bet against Brady at home in the playoffs), this may be that one record that Brady will look back on and really feel proud of. Congratulations Tom Brady on another impressive feat.

NFL Wild Card weekend predictions

January 5, 2010

Arizona Cardinals vs Green Bay Packers-Bad matchup for the Cardinals with the Packers great cornerbacks.Playoff experience will help the Cards and I think Kurt Warner will find Larry Fitzgerald on a regular basis and Beanie Wells should be able to gain some yards on the ground. Look for a close game to go down and Arizona win 24-20

Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles-Another rematch fromweek 17, the Cowboys have momentum rollin high and look to be the more prepared team for this matchup. The Eagles will need to stop Romo,Jones and the Cowboys if they want to move on in the playoffs. I think Ware n co. will be too much for McNabb and the Cowboys will win easily 28-10

Baltimore Ravens vs New England Patriots- Losing WR Wes Welker was tough for Belicheck’s Pats, but when Tom Brady is your QB you can never be counted out. The Ravens seem to be the more prepared team this year but we’ve already seen them lose once to New England and also lose close games to top notch competition during the year. I think New England gets a scare but comes out on top 27-24

New York Jets vs Cincinati Bengals- Well after watching the Jets destroy the Bengals sunday evening, its safe to say the Jets have a leg up on them. I think it will be ALOT closer this time but I still think the Jets defense will be too much. Revis,Scott n co. should be able to contain Ocho Cinco and the Bengals and knock them out of the playoffs. Jets 31-21

Richard Seymour blinded by trade?

September 12, 2009

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4467177

“Since I got the call that I was being traded, my life’s really been a whirlwind,” Seymour said at a news conference at the Raiders facilities. “I’ve really been blindsided by the events that took place. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t understand what was going on. So it’s like when something happens, when you’re blindsided, you have to step back and realize what situation you’re in.”

Ummm excuse me Mr. Seymour isnt this the NFL? Sure trades dont happen very often in the NFL but you should always be prepared for anything. Seymour isnt the same player he was 4-5 years ago and the Patriots didnt need him like in previous years so he was shipped off. Sure Seymour is still a solid DE but to be so “blindsided” that you dont report to your new team right away is ridiculous, especially when you have been in the league as long as he has. The NFL is a job just like your local server at McDonalds and you should show up regardless of how you feel. The Oakland Raiders obviously wanted him and he should be happy with that and play his hear out for them this season. Hopefully more athletes will start acting their ages and not their shoe sizes (We’re lookin at you Mr Marshall).

Cleo Lemon to sign w/ the Patriots…Vick ruled out?

August 1, 2009

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4371342

Veteran backup QB Cleo Lemon will sign with the New England Patriots to back up Tom Brady. Could this mean Michael Vick doesnt get signed? Hmmm my guess is good as yours. I believe Bill Belicheck and Robert Kraft have something up their sleeve. I think Vick will end up in New England playing in a wildcat option/slot reciever situation. We’ll find out very soon.
